Former U. of H. student sued over loan payments

Student loan debt

A Delaware trust is suing over claims a former student has defaulted on loan payments.

National Collegiate Student Loan Trust 2007-1, a Delaware Statutory Trust, filed a lawsuit April 3 in the Jefferson County District Court against Christina Mayes and Dave Williams, citing breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the National Collegiate Student Loan Trust is seeking damages of more than $15,000 due from Mayes on a loan for her studies at the University of Houston-Downtown, a loan on which Williams was the guarantor.

The National Collegiate Student Loan Trust claims they notified Mayes of the default in October, but she has failed to continue payments, the suit alleges.

The National Collegiate Student Loan Trust is seeking more than $17,600 in the amount owed plus interest.

It is being represented in the case by attorney Michael J. Scott of Scott Parnell & Associates PC of Carrollton.
