Chrysler Group sued after child injured in collision from collapsing front seat

Jeepgrandcherokee medium 3338 5

A Red River County woman is suing over claims her grandchild was injured when the front seat of a Jeep fell backward in a collision, striking the child.

Donna Bramberg, as next friend to W.W., a minor, filed a lawsuit April 21 in the Marshall  Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Chrysler Group LLC.

According to the complaint, W.W. was a passenger in Elizabeth Ross's 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee on U.S. 271 in Red River County on Nov. 21, 2012, when Ross slowed to avoid hitting a deer and another vehicle struck hers from behind.

The lawsuit states W.W. was properly restrained, but sustained serious injuries when the vehicle failed to protect him.

Chrysler is accused of liability for the design and manufacture of the car that was was not reasonably crashworthy, as evidenced by the right front passenger seat collapsing rearward and striking the child.

Bramberg is seeking damages and costs of suit.

She is being represented in the case by attorneys E. Todd Tracy, Stewart D. Matthews and Andrew G. Counts of The Tracy Firm.
