Jefferson County man files restraining order to stop demolition on his homes

Demolition

A Jefferson County man is filing for a temporary restraining order to stop the city of Beaumont from demolishing his homes.

Brandon E. Carter filed a temporary restraining order, temporary injunction and permanent injunction on April 29 in the Jefferson Division of the Southern District of Texas against the city of Beaumont.

Carter claims he purchased two dilapidated homes the defendant had scheduled to demolish at 2372 Hazel St. and 2151 Broadway St. in Beaumont on April 26. The suit alleges Carter plans to remodel and renovate the homes to its past historical roots. Carter is filing for a temporary restraining order to prevent the defendant from demolishing the homes, which would reduce the value of the property and cause Carter to lose almost all of his investment.

Carter is seeking a restraining order to prohibit the demolition of his home, a hearing for temporary injunction to be awarded and expenses for court costs. He is being represented in the case by Beaumont attorney Brandon Carter.
