AUSTIN (Legal Newsline) – Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and his campaign are knocking state Sen. Wendy Davis, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, for spending time campaigning out of state when she still hasn’t visited numerous Texas cities.
Over the past few days, Abbott spokesperson Sarah Floerke has sent emails to supporters, informing them Davis campaigned in 12 different states so far but has yet to step foot in Lubbock, Abilene, Texarkana, San Angelo, Wichita Falls and Victoria.
“Meanwhile, she’s found the time to visit 12 other states on 31 different campaign trips,” Floerke wrote.
“Sen. Davis has prioritized mingling with celebrities in Hollywood and Obama donors in Chicago over talking to real Texans – and she has the itinerary to prove it. Since her out-of-touch agenda has failed to resonate with Texas voters, Sen. Davis has resorted to fueling her campaign with funds from out-of-state liberals.”
As previously reported, the Abbott campaign has also criticized Davis for holding a fundraiser in Chicago.
Floerke’s email asserts Davis has made six trips to California, seven to Washington, D.C., and four to New York, plus engaged in one secret meeting with President Barack Obama.
“And while Sen. Wendy Davis continues to flee Texas for big bucks in California and New York, Greg Abbott has been campaigning in every corner of the state—from the Red River to the Rio Grande Valley and from El Paso to East Texas,” Floerke wrote.
According to the Davis campaign, the state senator raised approximately $350,000 in the month of May.
