Developer, contractors face suit after woman trips in Port Arthur

A Jefferson County woman is suing after allegedly tripping and falling outside her apartment complex.

Emily Dobbs filed suit May 20 in Jefferson County District Court against Realtex Development Corp., Realtex Development Southeast LLC, Colton Commercial USA Inc., M&G Reconstruction, Jerald Geiger Jr., FSC Pavement Marking, Donald Pleasant Sr. and Donald Pleasant Jr.  According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2012, Dobbs was walking outside her apartment complex at 3200 Turtle Creek Drive in Port Arthur, owned by defendant Realtex, when she tripped on a sprinkler head and a hole in the ground caused by defendants M&G Reconstruction, Colton Commercial and FSC, who were working on the sidewalk. 

Because of the incident Dobbs was injured, suffered lost wages and incurred medical costs, the suit states. She is accusing the defendants of failing to complete the sidewalk work in a safe manner and failing to warn pedestrians of the hazardous condition.

Dobbs is seeking damages of more than $200,000 and interest. She is represented by attorney Cody A. Dishon of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP.
