Texas City barbecue named in slip, fall lawsuit

Caution trip

A woman is suing after she was allegedly injured while a customer at a restaurant.

Joann McNeill filed suit July 2 in Galveston County District Court against Grand Prize Barbecue Inc. 

According to the complaint, on Nov. 27 McNeill was a customer at the defendant's restaurant at 2223 Palmer Highway, Texas City, when she tripped on an unspecified defect and fell, sustaining injuries.

The defendant was negligent in maintaining the premises, should have repaired the defect and should have warned customers of the hazardous condition, the suit alleges.

McNeill is seeking damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits.

She is represented by Alvin attorney Gene S. Hagood of Hagood & Neumann.
