A Beaumont man is accused of failing to repay more than $9,000 on his student loan.
National Collegiate Student Loan Trust 2006-4, a Delaware statutory trust, filed a lawsuit against Jeremy Zachary and Belinda Zachary on Aug. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the complaint, Jeremy Zachary received a student loan to attend a qualified educational institution. The original loan provided for a deferral period, after which Zachary allegedly agreed to begin repaying the loan. The lender says he has stopped making payments, leaving an unpaid balance of $8,623 plus accrued and unpaid interest of $883.
The National Collegiate Student Loan Trust says Belinda Zachary is a guarantor on the loan and signed a written agreement to repay the loan is Jeremy failed to.
The lender accuses the Zacharys of breach of contract and seeks damages in the amount of $9,506 plus interest and court costs.
