A Galveston woman is accused of failing to repay more than $12,000 she allegedly borrowed from a New York man so she could move to the United States.
Franklyn Castro filed a lawsuit against Lisandra Vignon Cervantes on Sept. 2 in Galveston County District Court.
According to the complaint, Castro loaned Cervantes money "from time to time" to "provide her with food and shelter and expenses necessary for her to legally emigrate to the United States."
Castro contends Cervantes has failed to pay back the money, despite his demands for payment.
Castro accuses Cervantes of owing $12,488.45 plus interest. He asks to be awarded the balance in full along with attorney fees and court costs.
Attorney Gerson D. Bloom, of Galveston, represents him.
