A woman has filed suit against the driver whom she alleges failed to control his speed and caused an accident involving her vehicle.

Lenoria Simpson alleges she was stopped in traffic on U.S. Route 69 in Port Arthur on Aug. 4, when defendant Holly Galvan failed to control her speed and struck the vehicle in between Galvan and Simpson, pushing that vehicle into Simpson's.

Because of the collision, Simpson suffered back, neck and body injuries; endured severe pain; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 18 in Jefferson County District Court. She also endured mental anguish, physical pain and suffering and disability; lost her earning capacity; and suffered physical impairment, the suit states.

Galvan negligently failed to control her speed, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove inattentively, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Simpson seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

Attorneys Clay Dugas and Cody Rees of Beaumont will represent Simpson.
