Four Jefferson County residents say they suffered various injuries after a driver allegedly ran a stop sign.
Eddie Jessie, individually and as next friend of Dallas Jessie, London Jessie and Nadia Jessie, filed a lawsuit Sept. 18 in Jefferson County District Court against Thomas Lightfoot.
In their complaint, the plaintiffs allege they were traveling north on Eastex Freeway on Aug. 13, when Lightfoot, who was traveling west on Chinn Road, ran a stop sign and slammed into their vehicle.
Because of the accident, the plaintiffs suffered injuries, endured severe pain, incurred medical costs and experienced mental anguish, physical pain and suffering and disability, according to the complaint. They also lost their earning capacities and suffered physical impairment, the suit states.
Lightfoot negligently ran a stop sign, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove inattentively, the complaint says.
The plaintiffs seek a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.
Attorneys Clay Dugas and Cody Rees, of Beaumont, will represent the plaintiffs.
