Houston area employees sue Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for discrimination

Nsud2

Three black former and current employees are alleging racial discrimination in Goodyear's promotion practices.

Russell Pears, Eddie Primes and Richard Morris filed a suit June 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas court against The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

The plaintiffs, all of whom are black, are current or former employees of the defendant who worked as store managers in the greater Houston area. According the plaintiffs, they were consistently paid substantially less than similarly situated non-black store managers. They also allege the district manager for Goodyear at the time refused to compensate the plaintiffs equally and give appropriate raises despite their repeated requests. According to the suit, Goodyear had recently promoted the manager and then promoted a white store manager with performance problems to replace him.

The plaintiffs are suing Goodyear for race discrimination, alleging unequal pay and seek compensatory and punitive damages. The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Nitin Sud in Bellaire.

Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas case number 4:15-cv-01674.
