Man accused of pistol-whipping daughter says it was self-defense

Gun

A Marion County man whom a recent federal lawsuit alleges assaulted his daughter with his gun has filed an original answer.

In court papers filed Aug. 10 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas, defendant Robert Wall asserts he was defending himself against plaintiff Deanna Stanfield.

Stanfield, the answer explains, advanced on Wall and shone a light in his eyes while verbally threatening him with bodily injury.

The plaintiff sued Wall on July 21, claiming she and her husband were talking at her father’s residence in Bivins on Feb. 15, 2014, when the respondent came out of the house with the aforementioned gun, demanded that the couple leave and simultaneously swung the firearm in her direction.

Wall inflicted head injuries to the complainant, according to the suit.

Wall admits to swinging the pistol in Stanfield’s direction, but denies doing it in the simultaneous fashion as charged by the latter.

Attorney Joe B. Young of the law firm Patton, Nix & Young, LLP in Longview is representing the defendant.
