A Bullard man is suing Texas law enforcement, alleging it has denied him work based on unlawful policies.
Aric W. Hall filed a lawsuit Aug. 31 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCLE) and Kim Vickers, alleging deprivation of rights under color of state law.
According to the complaint, after having several years of experience challenging organized crime and completing police training in 2004, Hall was denied police jobs because he exercised the freedom of petition to suppress crime. The suit alleges numerous police investigators have committed felony falsification of their background and incident reports against him and have falsely accused him of crimes, among other criminal acts.
The suit further alleges TCLE policies are written so that an officer can either fulfill his duty to suppress crime or be insubordinate to his boss but not both. Hall argues this results in officers' dereliction of duty to avoid being fired by a commission licensee and avoid permanent revocation by the commission.
These policies further facilitate crimes and First Amendment violations by commission licensees, the lawsuit states.
Hall seeks $75 million in damages. He is representing himself.
