A Galveston County man is suing an emergency medical center and several doctors, alleging a soccer injury to his leg was misdiagnosed.
Kirby Holt filed a lawsuit Aug. 4 in Galveston County District Court against Emergency Medical Group, (and its affiliated medical centers), Dr. Tracey Antill, All American Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute and Dr. Javier Rios, alleging liability due to negligence.
According to the complaint, Holt began a series of medical visits after a soccer injury Jan. 4, 2014, with several different diagnoses and treatments, and continued three days later with a visit to a hospital emergency room. Since then, the suit says, Holt has required multiple surgeries and has developed a chronic foot drop.
The plaintiff alleges he has suffered serious and permanent damages which he will have the remainder of his life.
Holt seeks more than $1 million to recoup costs for medical treatment both past and future, loss of wages, physical impairment, and pain and mental anguish. He also seeks a jury trial and court costs. He is represented by attorneys Jim. M. Perdue, Jr., and Richard T. Fass, of Perdue & Kidd in Houston.
