Former field technician sues Pason Systems, seeking overtime pay

A former field technician is suing his former employer, alleging it failed to compensate him and other employees when they worked overtime.

Donny Ratliff, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a collective action lawsuit Aug. 17 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Pason Systems USA Corp. of Houston, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Ratliff worked for Pason as a field technician from 2010 to 2015 where he performed technical and manual job duties in the oil field.

The suit states although he and other field technicians were paid a salary plus a halftime premium rate for any work of more than 40 hours in a single work week during the training program, afterward they only received a salary and weren't given overtime pay. Ratliff alleges he worked at least 44 hours of overtime each work week without overtime compensation and the suit says field technicians often work more than 84 hours in a given week.

Ratliff seeks unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, attorney fees, court costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. He is represented by attorneys Michael A. Josephson, Andrew Dunlap, Lindsay Itkin and Jessica Bresler of Fibich, Leebron, Copeland, Briggs & Josephson in Houston, and Richard J. Burch of Bruckner Burch in Houston.

Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas case number 4:15-cv-02376.
