A Galveston County woman is suing an oil company, alleging negligence for injuries she says she sustained while patrolling its premises.

Cathie Moses filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in Galveston County District Court against Marathon Petroleum Company, alleging negligence.

On March 31, the complaint states, while Moses was patrolling property owned by the defendant at 5401 Fifth Ave. S., Texas City, she fell on an unstable platform, injuring her knee and other body parts.

The suit alleges the defendant was negligent in failing to maintain reasonably safe premises, failing to inspect and correct a dangerous condition, and failing to inform of the dangerous condition, among other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result, the suit states, the plaintiff sustained injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, impairment and disfigurement, plus medical expenses.

Moses seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, including damages, penalties, costs, expenses, prejudgment interest and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney John A. Daspit of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
