A Jefferson County man is suing Beaumont in an effort to obtain a temporary injunction on a house demolition.

Lesha Crawford filed the suit Oct. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against the city of Beaumont.

According to the complaint, in Aug. 21, Crawford purchased a home at 2490 N. Lynwood, Beaumont, which the defendant had declared dilapidated and had scheduled for demolition. The plaintiff says he purchased the home to save it from demolition and to remodel and renovate because it is the home he grew up in.

Crawford asks the court for temporary injunction for a hearing, and then a permanent injunction for a full trial and against the demolition. He also seeks reimbursement for the expenses associated with the lawsuit. The plaintiff is representing himself.

Jefferson County District Court case number B197695.
