Motorist alleges car company manufactured defective airbags

Car accident 14

MARSHALL — A motorist is suing a car company, alleging it manufactured defective airbags.

Austin Griffin filed a lawsuit April 25, in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against FCA US LLC, alleging negligence and product liability in manufacturing defective airbags.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 30, 2015, Griffin was involved in a car crash and, despite wearing his seat belt, he sustained catastrophic injuries when his frontal air bag did not deploy.

The plaintiff alleges FCA failed to make sure the vehicles it was selling were crash-worthy and free from any defects. The suit says the plaintiff sustained physical pain and mental anguish that could bother him the rest of his life.

Griffin seeks a trial by jury, actual and compensatory damages, exemplary damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just.

He is represented by attorneys Robert E. Ammons and Sydney Meriwether of The Ammons Law Firm LLP in Houston.
