GALVESTON — A Galveston County couple is suing multiple defendants, alleging their negligent representation cost them more than $800,000.

Terry Hashop and Evelene Hashop filed a lawsuit July 12 in Galveston County District Court against WR Broussard Inc. Tennstone Transport Inc. Diane Stevenson Holt and Lloyd Patrick Broussard, alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the Hashops suffered economic damages of $832,000 because the defendants conspired to defraud and/or wrongfully misappropriate their savings through a series of sham transactions involving cargo shipments to Algeria and Ghana. The suit says the cargo never existed.

The Hashops seek a trial by jury, actual damages, pre-judgment and post- judgment interest, statutory penalties, exemplary and consequential damages, attorney fees, costs of court and general relief. They are represented by attorney Frederick L. Fuhr of The Fuhr Law Firm in League City.
