Property owners allege insurance firm breached contract

Contract 02

GALVESTON — A Galveston County couple is suing an insurance company, alleging they did not receive proper money to repair their home.

Jose Sanchez and Jeanette Sanchez of League City filed a lawsuit July 12 in Galveston County District Court against Texas Farmers Insurance Company, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, on May 26, 2015, a school bus crashed through the front of the Sanchez home in League City causing significant damage. The suit says their insurance claims were not properly investigated and they received insufficient money to repair their home.

The plaintiffs allege Texas Farmers failed to properly assess the damage, failed to place a reasonable value for the costs of repair and failed to provide full coverage of the damage.

Jose and Jeanette Sanchez seek trial by jury, monetary relief between $200,000 and $500,000, attorney fees, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest and costs of suit. They are represented by attorneys Brad T. Wyly and Michael J. Burns of Wyly & Cook PLLC in Houston.
