SHERMAN — An employee is suing a Seven Points bar and grill, alleging failure to pay overtime wages.

Alejandra Graham filed a lawsuit Aug. 12 in the Sherman Division of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against Coconut LLC, doing business as Coconut Island Bar and Grill, and An Dhin Ho, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Texas Minimum Wage Act.

According to the complaint, Graham regularly worked more than 40 hours per week hiring and supervising restaurant staff but but has never received any extra pay for her hours worked. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay her at least the mandated minimum wage of $7.25 per hour and overtime pay at a rate of one and-a-half times her regular rate for each hour worked in excess of 40 per week and failed to compensate her salary of $750 per week beginning April 6, 2015, per 40-hour week, as required by FLSA.

Graham seeks trial by jury, unpaid wages due, liquidated damages, costs and attorney fees, pre- and and post-judgment interest and all other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorneys Gonzalo Serrano and Michael O’Keefe Cowles of the Equal Justice Center in Dallas.
