HOUSTON – A woman alleges she was injured during a fitness class at a Houston gym when the spin bike she was using broke.

Molly James filed a complaint on Nov. 10 in Harris County District Court against Define LLC and Define Holdings LLC alleging that they breached their duty to exercise ordinary care to ensure plaintiff's safety.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 15, 2015, she attended a spin class at defendants' Define, Body & Mind gym. During her workout, the suit states the spin bike broke, causing her to sustain injuries resulting in pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages and disfigurement. The plaintiff holds Define LLC and Define Holdings LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly inspect and/or maintain their equipment and failed to act as a reasonable or prudent business operators would have acted under such circumstances.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of not less than $200,000 but not more than $1 million, plus interest, court costs and such other relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by D. Douglas Mena and Ryan K. Haun of Haun Mena PLLC in Houston.
