GALVESTON — A Galveston woman is suing a harbor towing business, alleging negligence in failing to protect its employee from sexual abuse/harassment.

Esther Harrelson filed a complaint Jan. 12 in Galveston County District Court against G&H Towing Company, alleging failure to protect her and supervise its crew.

According to the complaint, on June 14, 2016, Harrelson was sexually assaulted by the company's engineer, Ed Hitchborn, and was subjected to repeated verbal sexual advances that escalated to sexual assault.

The plaintiff alleges G&H Towing kept silent and did nothing about the Harrelson's report to her immediate supervisor and to management. The suit says the defendant was fully aware of the situation and consciously disregarded the risk to Harrelson by allowing her to work under such dangerous conditions.

Harrelson seeks trial by jury, judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, plus pre-judgment/post -judgment interests, and all other equitable relief.,She is represented by attorneys M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael E. Pierce of Pierce Skrabanek Bruera PLLC in Houston.
