HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing Ann Vo, DDS, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Latoya Edwards filed a complaint on Jan. 13 in the Harris County District Court against the Houston-based dentist, alleging that the dentist failed to conform to the required standard of care as a health care professional.

According to the complaint, Edwards alleges that on Sept. 5, 2015, Vo convinced her to remove the third molars, commonly known as wisdom teeth. During the procedure, Edwards's sensory nerve was damaged and her jaw was broken. As a result, she suffered from numbness in her tongue and difficulty chewing and swallowing. Edwards holds Vo responsible because she allegedly breached her duty to ensure safety and care during the operation.

Edwards requests a trial by jury and seeks maximum recovery from defendant in the amount of $1 million and such other and further relief, general or special, legal or equitable, to which she may justly entitled. She is represented by David K. Mestemaker of Mestemaker & Straub in Houston.
