GALVESTON — A Galveston County landlord is suing a former tenant, alleging breach of a lease agreement.

MBP Corp. filed a complaint Jan. 18 in Galveston County District Court against Richard Spencer Steinberger, doing business as Bear Claw Knife & Shear, alleging failure to perform its obligations under the agreement.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 31, 2014, MBP entered into a written contract with Bear Claw for the lease of a retail property at 2309 The Strand, Galveston, for five years. At the time the lease was terminated, effective Nov. 25, 2016, 26 months remained in the initial term, the suit says.

A total amount of $28,136 remains due and owing, the suit says. The plaintiff alleges Bear Claw Knife & Shear has failed and continues to refuse to make any payments under the lease.

MBP Corp, seeks trial by jury, actual damages of not less than $25,136, plus interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other proper relief. It is represented by attorney Kyle L. Dickson of Murray | Lobb PLLC in Houston.
