HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing beauty salon operators, alleging breach of contract and unpaid wages.
Veronica Kestler filed a complaint on Jan. 26, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, between Dec. 3, 2016, and Jan. 12, 2017, Kestler was employed as a stylist for the defendants with an hourly rate. She worked a total of 25 hours of overtime, the suit says, but was not paid for the additional time and a half premium.
As a result, the suit says, Kestler suffered lost of overtime wages amounting to $167.50. The plaintiff alleges the defendants showed willful and blatant disregard for the plaintiff's federally protected rights by failing to comply with the overtime provisions contained within the FLSA.
Kestler seeks trial by jury, unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Thomas H. Padgett Jr., Charles L. Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Bellaire and Austin.
