HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing a Houston apartment operator, alleging the defendant's negligence led to a dog attacking the plaintiff.

Jimmy Huen filed a complaint Feb. 13 in Harris County Circuit Court against Parawest Management alleging it they violated the apartment complex's written policy of not permitting certain breeds or mixes of dogs, including a pit bull, to stay in the complex.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 11, 2015, Huen visited his mother-in-law at her apartment home at Braesridge Apartments on Westpark Drive in Houston, which was managed by Parawest. As Huen was walking through the parking lot, the suit says, a pit bull charged at and ferociously attacked him, biting his forearm, and causing four puncture wound and excessive bleeding.

As a result, the plaintiff says he suffered physical injuries, lost wages by missing two weeks of work and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Parawest Management failed to implement its own pet policy, failed to enforce city ordinances that require pet owners to have a license for their pets and failed to act with ordinary care and prudence when it permitted a pit bull to roam at large at the apartment complex.

Huen seeks trial by jury and seeks judgment up to $100,000 inclusive of damages, penalties, costs, expenses, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief the court deems appropriate. He is represented by attorney Kelly Greenwood Prather of The Greenwood Prather Law Firm in Houston.
