HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a Katy furniture store, alleging violation of workers compensation acts in not paying proper overtime.
Jaime Pratt filed a complaint Feb. 13 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Katy Furniture LLC and owner Amir Mahdejian, alleging they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, between November 2014 and August 2016, Pratt was employed as a salaried, non-exempt manager by the defendants. The suit says Pratt consistently worked more than 40 hours per week but was never paid an overtime premium.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay overtime premium at a rate not less than one and one-half times her regular rate for each hour worked more than 40 per week as required by FLSA.
Pratt seeks trial by jury, unpaid overtime compensation, attorney fees, court costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other proper relief. She is represented by attorney Douglas B. Welmaker of Dunham and Jones PC in Austin.
