HOUSTON — A patient is suing University of Texas Medical Branch and Dr. Vinod Panchbhavi, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries during her foot surgery.
Felicia Stevenson filed a complaint on Feb. 22, in the Harris County District Court against the defendants, alleging that they breached the legal duty of care owed to the plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the doctor preformed surgery on her right foot and toes on Aug. 8, 2014. As a result of the defendant's negligence, she sustained personal injuries and damages, which caused her to suffer physical and mental pain and medical expenses, the complaint said. The plaintiff holds University of Texas Medical Branch and Panchbhavi responsible because despite having knowledge of the potential harm resulting from the surgery, defendants allegedly preceded with conscious indifference of her rights, safety and welfare.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and other relief. She is represented by Taft Foley II of The Foley Law Firm in Houston.
