Pedestrian blames Houston property owners for fall

Slip01

HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing Houston homeowners, alleging their negligence cause her to suffer injuries in a fall on their property.

Diane M. Guillerman filed a complaint March 14 in Harris County District Court against Petros Skoumpourdis and Marcela Skoumpourdis, et al, alleging they failed to provide a reasonable safe surface in front of their home.

According to the complaint, on March 21, 2016, Guillerman was walking her dog in front of the defendants' home on 2006 Briafgreen, Houston, when her pant leg was caught by a rebar projecting 10 to 12 inches from the Skoumpourdis' driveway, causing Guillerman to lose her balance and fall.

The suit says she sustained injuries to her elbow, leg and shoulder and suffered medical expenses, physical and mental pain and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to replace or repair the rebar on the lip of their driveway and failed to warn persons using the street of the dangerous condition.

Guiillerman seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of between $200,000 and $1 million and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney David Heller of Houston.
