HOUSTON — A Harris County woman is suing a hotel night club, alleging negligence led to her suffering injuries.

Raeshell Fletcher filed a complaint May 10 in Harris County Circuit Court against OMNI Hotels Management Corporation, doing business as The OMNI Hotel, and OMNI Hotels Management Corporation, doing business as The Black Swan, alleging failure to exercise care in maintaining the club to protect not only invitees but also those who are working there.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 5, 2016, while inside the Black Swan night club, Fletcher was walking across the dance floor when she slipped and fell on a liquid substance. The suit says Black Swan employees admitted to Fletcher that drinks were not allowed on the dance floor, but customers still carried drinks on the floor, causing other guests to be injured.

As a result, Fletcher says she suffered physical injuries, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to inspect and maintain the dance floor in a safe manner, failed to warn the public of the dangerous condition and failed to implement strict rules while on the dance floor to avoid any injuries.

Fletcher seeks trial by jury, monetary relief up to $200,000, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court, and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys David K. Mestemaker, Norman Straub and Van Gardner of Mestemaker and Straub in Houston.
