Walmart customer blames store operator for fall

Slip02

BEAUMONT — A Jefferson County customer is suing Walmart, alleging the store's negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Alfredo Ramirez filed a complaint May 18 in Jefferson County District Court against Walmart Stores Texas LLC, alleging the retail store operator breached its duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 13, Ramirez was at a Walmart store in Port Arthur. The suit says he was walking near the chicken rotisserie when he slipped and fell on a puddle of grease.

Ramirez said he sustained injuries to his neck and back, pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages. The plaintiff alleges Walmart failed to warn its invitees, including Ramirez, about the existence of a dangerous condition.

Ramirez seeks trial by jury, monetary relief up to $75,000, all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys John Arthur Daspit and Eduardo Javier Garza of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
