HOUSTON — A Harris County man is suing his former employer, alleging defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and retaliation.

John Scott Hill filed a complaint June 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Akzo Nobel, alleging the defendant intentionally committed injury to the plaintiff's profession.

According to the complaint, as a result of the defendant's defamation of his character, Hill has sustained permanent damage to his personal and professional reputation and thereby putting him his career as a project engineer at risk.

Hill says he suffered humiliation, mental anguish and economic damages. The plaintiff alleges Akzo Nobel used false, misleading and defamatory statements and retaliated against him by terminating his employment June 9, 2016, for refusing to break the federal law.

Hill seeks trial by jury, seeks compensatory payments of $4,877,894.41 and all other just and proper relief. He is representing himself.
