GALVESTON – A man who suffered second-degree burns in an incident at a refinery is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

Luis Enriquez filed a complaint on July 7 in the Galveston County District Court against Marathon Petroleum Co. LP alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 9, he was working for CB&I at the defendant's Texas City Refinery when hot liquid was poured onto him. The suit states the hot liquid caused him second-degree burns to his right arm, ribs and stomach. He alleges can no longer be in sunlight without protective clothing and has been unable to resume regular work.

The plaintiff holds Marathon Petroleum Co. LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide proper equipment, failed to give adequate warning and provide adequate medical care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Kurt B. Arnold, Caj D. Boatright, Alison Baimbridge and Roland T. Christensen of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
