BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County woman alleges that she was injured as a tenant at the Villas of Sunnyside senior living community.

Paula McGlothin filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in the Jefferson County District Court against Cottages of Sunnyside LP and Quest Management Inc. alleging premises liability and negligent maintenance and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 14, 2015, she fell inside the bathroom of the apartment unit she was renting from the defendants. She alleges she sustained a fractured hip that resulted in extreme pain and suffering, decreased mobility, mental anguish and medical care expenses.

The plaintiff holds Cottages of Sunnyside LP and Quest Management Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to install a handrail for the entry and exit to the bathtub and failed to maintain the apartment in a reasonable condition.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 and such other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Jason E. Payne of The Payne Firm PC in Houston.
