SHERMAN – A Collin County man claims that he was discriminated because of his race during his employment.

Jesse Fields filed a complaint on Aug. 25 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against Mattress Firm Inc. alleging that the employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hired by the defendant in December 2014. He alleges that some of his supervisors repeatedly said racially inappropriate things to him and that he also was threatened. The suit states he reported this conduct multiple times.

The plaintiff holds Mattress Firm Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against him by terminating his employment in March for complaining of the discrimination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages with interest, attorney's fees and all other relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by David B. Joeckel Jr. of The Joeckel Law Office in Fort Worth.
