TYLER – A Hispanic man alleges that he faced disability discrimination and a hostile work environment before he was terminated by a college.
Jose E. Alonzo filed a complaint on Aug. 25 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Computer Career Center LP, doing business as Vista College, alleging that the employer violated the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant in October 2016 as the cosmetology program director for the Longview campus and was terminated on April 21.
The plaintiff holds Computer Career Center LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to make reasonable accommodation for his doctor's appointments and subjected him to disparate treatment, harassment, employment discrimination, retaliation and termination.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, with interest, attorney fees, costs and expenses and such other and further relief as the nature of this case may require. He is represented by Allison Bedore of The Law Office of Allison Bedore in Weatherford.
