BEAUMONT — A property owner and lessee is suing Jefferson Central Appraisal District, alleging an excessive tax burden.

Chick-Fil-A Inc. filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in the Jefferson County District Court against Jefferson Central Appraisal District, alleging that the district failed to provide equal and uniform appraisal value.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it has sustained damages for an excessive lien and tax burden imposed on its property. The plaintiff holds Jefferson Central Appraisal District responsible because the defendant allegedly appraised plaintiff's property in an amount in excess of what's required by law.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order setting the appraised value of plaintiff's property, attorneys' fees, costs and all other lawful relief. It is represented by Charles L. Galindo Jr., Gavin McBryde and Kathleen J. Santos of the McBryde Firm PLLC in Austin.
