HOUSTON – A traveler at the Bush International Airport alleges she needed surgery after being knocked to the ground by a sliding door.

Phyllis Chezem filed a complaint on Nov. 8 in the Harris County District Court against the city of Houston and the Houston Airport System alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 20, 2015, she was injured at the Bush International Airport when an automatic sliding door "slammed" into her and caused her to fall to the ground. She alleges she sustained injury to her shoulder that required reverse socket surgery and extensive physical therapy.

The plaintiff holds the city of Houston and Houston Airport System responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn the general public that the sliding door was dangerous.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Daniel P. Barton and Wayne C. Collins of Barton Law Firm in Houston.
