HOUSTON – A College Station woman alleges that a sporting goods and outdoor store employer terminated her because of her sex.

Mary Beth Marshall filed a complaint on Nov. 15 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Academy LTD alleging that the sporting goods and outdoor store operator violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant for more than 34 years and was an assistant manager at the time of her termination on April 24.

The plaintiff holds Academy LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against her and terminated her employment because of her sex and replaced her with a male employee.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, compensatory and punitive damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; attorney's fees; costs and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Mark J. Oberti of Oberti Sullivan LLP in Houston.
