BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County woman alleges the owners of a mini mart intentionally hid or transferred assets to avoid paying her a judgment.

Swanetta Denise Boyd filed a complaint on Nov. 14, 2017, in the Jefferson County District Court against Anh Thi Nguyen and Tu Anh Dao alleging fraudulent transfer.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 27, 2014, she was an invitee at defendants' T&A Mini Mart when she slipped and fell on a liquid that was on the floor in an inadequately lit room. The suit states she presented her case to a judge and was awarded judgment against defendants.

The plaintiff holds Nguyen and Dao responsible because the defendants allegedly closed down the mini mart to prevent paying the plaintiff any judgment she might get against it and transferred its assets to a new business directly across T&A Mini Mart.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 and such other relief that is lawful and equitable. She is represented by Taylor W. Miller of Reaud, Morgan & Quinn LLP in Beaumont.
