GALVESTON – A Louisiana man alleges his hand was injured while working on a vessel.

Billy Lavergne filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the Galveston County District Court against Orion Marine Construction Inc. and Orion Marine Group Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 12, 2015, he was operating defendants' M/V Debbie B when the steering wheel suddenly began spinning and struck his hand. He alleges he sustained severe stenosing tenosynovitis of the long finger of his right hand, and other injuries to the bones, muscles, joints, tendons and other parts of his right hand and body.

The plaintiff holds Orion Marine Construction Inc. and Orion Marine Group Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide proper equipment and/or personnel to accomplish his job safely and failed to warn him of the dangerous and unsafe conditions of the vessel.

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount to be determined by the trier of fact, prejudgment interest, attorney’s fees, costs and all other relief which the law and justice will provide. He is represented by David C. Whitmore of Blake Jones Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.
