HOUSTON – A Jones Act seaman alleges he was injured while working for his Harris County-based employers.

Dustin Adams filed a complaint on March 15 in the Harris County District Court against Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 3, 2017, he was in the course and scope of his employment with defendants on the Ocean Blackhornet when he was injured while lifting heavy equipment. He alleges he suffered serious injuries to his back that required surgery, severe pain, mental anguish and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff holds Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., et al. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate safety equipment, failed to provide a sufficient crew and failed to live up to their maintenance and cure obligations.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of no less than $1 million. He is represented by Jason A. Itkin, Cory D. Itkin and Ryan MacLeod of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
