GALVESTON – An HEB shopper alleges she was injured in a fall in the canned foods aisle of its Texas City location because of a substance on the floor.

Vivian Washington filed a complaint on June 4 in the Galveston County District Court against HEB Grocery Co. LP alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 25, 2016, she was injured while shopping at defendant's HEB store in Texas City when she slipped and fell on a reddish-brown substance on the floor. She alleges she suffered physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and disfigurement as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds HEB Grocery Co. LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the premises where the dangerous condition existed and failed to inform invitees of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount between $200,000 and $1 million and all further relief the court may deem justly appropriate. She is represented by M. Paul Skrabanek and Betty Feng of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
