HOUSTON – Beaumont attorney Brent Coon is implicated in a lawsuit accusing him and his law firm of breaching a nearly 20-year-old agreement, recent Harris County District Court records show.
The 5-page complaint was filed by L. Boyd Smith, Jr. of The Boyd Smith Law Firm PLLC on behalf of Michael T. Gallagher and The Gallagher Law Firm, PLLC on Aug. 8 in the Harris County 164th District Court.
Gallagher and Coon reportedly entered into a written contract/referral agreement/fee sharing agreement with respect to the referral of a group of asbestos/mesothelioma/lung cancer clients on Apr. 10, 2002. Approximately six months later, the parties executed a joint representation and fee sharing agreement with another law firm in connection with another group of asbestos/mesothelioma/lung cancer litigants.

Coon and his firm interfered with the contracts and caused the plaintiffs to suffer damages, the original petition says.
Consequently, the case demands a “formal and final” accounting from the defendants on “all contracts and cases at issue.”
