McGuireWoods LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 9.
Meghaan Madriz, an accomplished employment litigator with deep experience representing employers in wage-and-hour matters, has joined McGuireWoods as a partner in the firm’s Houston office. She is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in labor and employment law.
Madriz represents employers of all sizes in courts across the country and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, JAMS and the American Arbitration Association. In her robust employment practice, she advises clients on compliance matters, investigations and disputes. She recently won decertification of a nationwide Fair Labor Standards Act collective action in a significant exempt misclassification case. Madriz also defends clients in discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims and has significant experience handling unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secret litigation.
In addition to her employment litigation and counseling practice, Madriz represents at-risk children and underprivileged families in pro bono cases. She comes to McGuireWoods from Haynes and Boone.
“Meghaan brings particular acumen advising hospitals and healthcare companies, oil and gas businesses, and other employers in high-stakes wage-and-hour disputes,” said partner Bruce Steen, chair of McGuireWoods’ Labor and Employment Department. “Her arrival advances our efforts to expand our employment practice in Texas, and we are delighted to welcome her to the firm.”
“Meghaan is an immensely talented lawyer who leads major employment litigation for clients in Texas and nationwide,” added Jay Hughes, managing partner of the firm’s Houston office. “She is a strong addition to our litigation team.”
“McGuireWoods has a stellar reputation for handling high-profile employment litigation and I am excited to join the firm’s national employment group,” Madriz said.
McGuireWoods’ Labor and Employment Department earned three rankings in the prestigious Chambers USA guide and has been recognized as a “Standout” firm for employment litigation in BTI Consulting’s BTI Litigation Outlook.
