Redi Carpet CEO alleges former employee made false, defamatory statements concerning harassment

HOUSTON – The CEO of Redi Carpet alleges a former employee made false and defamatory statements that are harmful in his profession.

Brian Caress filed a complaint on Sept. 13 in the Harris County District Court against Michael Fortier alleging defamation per se.

According to the complaint, the defendant was formerly employed by Redi Carpet and abruptly resigned in September 2017. The plaintiff alleges the defendant made false statements alleging that the plaintiff sexually assaulted and harassed the defendant.

The plaintiff holds Fortier responsible because the defendant allegedly falsely and maliciously made statements that he committed serious crimes.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may show himself to be justly entitled. He is represented by Dale Jefferson and Nathan Wesely of Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom LLP in Houston.
