Treadmill at Houston L.A. Fitness location alleged to have malfunctioned while in use and injure woman

HOUSTON – A woman alleges the treadmill at a Houston gym malfunctioned while she was using it and caused her to fall.

Anita Gilliam filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the Harris County District Court against L.A. Fitness International LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 16, 2016, she was exercising at L.A. Fitness on Westheimer in Houston when the treadmill she was using malfunctioned, causing her to fall from the machine. She alleges she suffered injuries resulting in pain and suffering, medical expenses, mental anguish and loss of earnings as a result of the fall. 

The plaintiff holds L.A. Fitness International LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly inspect its equipment.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by William H. Welborne of Wellborne Law Firm in Houston.
