Patient alleges fly landed on him during surgery, sues Kingwood Medical for $200K

HOUSTON — A patient is suing a Kingwood medical center, alleging a fly landed on his wound during surgery.

Ronald Eugene Lemons filed a complaint April 10 in Harris County District Court against Kingwod Medical Center LLC., Kingwood Medical Center, Hospital Corporation of America, KPH Consolidation Inc., doing business as Kingwood Medical Center, Columbia/HCA of Houston Inc., doing business as Kingwood Medical Center and Dr. Gregory Harvey, alleging medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Lemons was admitted to Kingwood Medical Center on April 11, 2017 for surgery. The suit says a fly landed on Lemons' open wound due to the defendants' negligence to allow a pest to be present in a surgery room.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to apply implement effective antibiotic treatment after the fly landed.

Lemons seeks a jury trial, monetary damages between $100,000 and $200,000, interest and all other equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Christopher Bradshaw-Hall of Houston.
