Car accident 33

HOUSTON — A Houston woman is suing the driver of a tractor trailer, alleging an unsecured piece of metal fell on her car, causing her injuries.

Stacy Solomon filed a complaint May 21 in Harris County District Court against W. Velasquez LLC, Wilfredo Duarte Velasquez and Allstate County Mutual Insurance Company, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Solomon was driving north on Yale Street on April 11, 2018, when Velasquez was driving a 2005 Peterbilt tractor trailer southbound on the same road. The suit says Velasquez had unsecure scrap metal sticking out of the top of his trailer.

The suit alleges the metal hit the bottom of a railroad bridge, fell out and landed on Solomon's vehicle, resulting in severe injuries to the plaintiff and medical treatment.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to properly secure his cargo.

Solomon seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $1 million, actual damages between $200,000 and $1 million, court costs and all other just relief. She is represented by attorneys Langdon Smith and Frank W. Robertson of Jim S. Adler & Associates in Houston.
